bipolar engine

The bipolar engine is a game engine for Flash which was developed by binary madness. The engine consists of a class library written in Actionscript 3 and requires Flash Player 9. It’s based on the pre-existing Flash class structure and graphics API and extends it by several functions important for games development.
binary madness offers the bipolar engine for licensing.
Features:

- Graphics
- The bipolar engine implements several graphics modes. You can realize 2D- and isometric- as well as 3D-viewports or environments quickly. Within the same play scene you can switch between different perspectives in real-time.
- The bipolar engine implements camera objects which enable intuitive scrolling, moving and seamless zooming within 2D- as well as 3D environments.
- Several viewports independent of each other can be displayed. This allows for split screens and several alternative views of one scene at the same time.
- The engine is able to display fog with any color and visual range.
- It is possible to add post processing filters like spectral filter, soft-focus lens or edge detection on a scene.
- Collision
- The bipolar engine enables to check any arbitrary convex 2D shape for overlapping.
- The bipolar engine also enables to combine any convex shape which makes it possible to also check any concave shape for collision.
- It implements "quadtree"-methods to reach high performance in collision detection.
- Physics
- The bipolar engine implements a physics simulation based on the laws of the classical mechanics, which are implemented to large parts by now.
- The bipolar engine is capable of considering any number of forces for every object.

Ultra Strike Gunner

Ultra Strike Gunner is a classical arcade action game in which the player controls an alien spaceship which has to defeat more and more numerously growing hordes of earth’s defense forces. The game was developed with Microsoft XNA, which makes it compatible with Windows PCs as well as with the XBox 360. We’ve put much effort into the random-generated scenery, the path-finding and the particle effects.

ESP Mein Schutzengel (ESP My Guardian Angel)

ESP Mein Schutzengel The game is the first commercially used game by binary madness. It was created for an advertising campaign comissioned by the Unfallforschung der Versicherer (german insurer’s accident research), a department of the Gesamtverbandes der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft (German Insurance Association). The game communicates the advantages of ESP in a playful manner.
In the game, the player is driving a small car and has to chase burglars who have looted a car dealer. To outdistance the player, the criminals constantly drop spare parts on the road - among them the ESP-Angel. As soon as the player collects the ESP Angel, it activates the ESP and the handling of the car is improved.
The game introduces very elaborate Flash 3D graphics, a generated, endless country road and realistic driving physics which convincingly calculate the centrifugal forces of the car.
The game can be played online on the "ESP Mein Schutzengel" website:
